Building Informed and Supportive Communities

Ensuring our parents are fully informed is an essential part of developing sound partnerships with our community . We're all investigating ways to do this effectively. Here's a great idea from our colleagues at Huntly P. The aim was for teachers to reflect on their new learning and explain how this was informing and changing practice in their classrooms, so parents better understood what their children's learning experiences may be and why their teachers were providing it in this way. It was decided that each teacher would write a letter to their student's parents illustrating this.

The feedback was exceptional. Parents were delighted and appreciative and the letters provoked much discussion about the changes in learning that had been noticed.
